New Family Suite Opens at
RMHC of Siouxland

Families, with sick children, now have a new room to call home at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland, made possible by the Junior League of Sioux City.

Please join RMHC of Siouxland, the Junior League, and the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce on May 7th at 4:00 p.m. for a ribbon cutting and open house for the new Junior League of Sioux City Family Suite at 2500 Nebraska Street.  Tours of the room and house will be available along with light hors d’oeuvres.

Through a grant, the Junior League of Sioux City helped pay for and facilitate the $11,000 renovation of the bedroom and bathroom suite, including new flooring, a zero-entry shower, and spa-like design.  The Family Suite is designed to be handicap accessible and accomodating for larger families.

In addition to families staying overnight, the Family Suite will be open to Sioux City families who would need a few moments away from the hospital during the day to shower, rest, or decompress.  “RMHC believes in family-centered care, and helping families be the strongest they can be for their children receiving medical treatment.  So we hope this room will give any parent a place where they can take a moment to themselves, away from the hospital, to make sure they stay strong for their family throughout the medical journey,”  said Executive Director Christy Batien.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland offers a place to stay and food to eat for families with children, age 21 and under, receiving medical treatment in Siouxland from a variety of medical agencies.
