Apr 4    Ribbon Cutting - Crittenton Center
The Crittenton Center will hold a Ribbon Cutting at the Emergency Shelter for Children to celebrate their recent technology improvements made possible through a MRHD grant and partnerships with FiberComm and Electric Innovations.  An Open House will follow the event.

Apr 5    Ribbon Cutting - Whiskey Creek Insurance
Whiskey Creek has moved to a new office, just down the hall, and will celebrate with a Ribbon Cutting followed by and Open House until 6:00 PM.  Whiskey Creek Insurance is an independent agency with first-hand knowledge and expertise to help other growers select insurance products that protect against risk and deliver peace of mind.  Please join us in congratulating them on their new location.

Representatives Chris Hall and Tim Kacena will be our featured guests and will talk about their priorities for the session and give us the latest on the happenings within the Capitol.
 

About Rep. Hall
Representative Chris Hall is serving his fourth term in the Iowa House. Hall works as the Grants Coordinator at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, where he was born and raised. He graduated from North High School as valedictorian and stayed in Iowa to receive his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College.

Hall serves as Ranking Member for the House Appropriations Committee and also serves on the Commerce and Agriculture committees.

Hall attends First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City. He is a member of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Rotary Club, and Tyrian Lodge. In his free time, he enjoys cycling and volunteering for local reading programs and the Siouxland Soup Kitchen.

About Rep. Kacena
Representative Tim Kacena is completing his first term in the Iowa House. He retired as a lieutenant in the Sioux City Fire Department after 33 years and is also a U.S. Army veteran.   

Kacena is a ranking member of the Administration & Rules Committee and also serves on the Commerce, Labor, Public Safety, Veterans Affairs committees, and the Justice Systems Appropriations Subcommittee.

Apr 18 - Apr 19    64th Siouxland/Washington Conference

The Siouxland/Washington Conference, held every Spring since 1954, is a unique opportunity to join with community leaders from the tri-state area to travel to Washington, DC and present regional issues of importance to our Congressional delegation.  Conference attendees have the opportunity to discuss issues with each of the six Senators representing Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, as well as the eight Representatives from the three states. Attendees participate in a two-day schedule packed with meetings around the Hill.  The tradition-rich event also boasts a steak reception on the first evening of the conference where conference goers mingle one-on-one with the tri-state delegation in an informal setting.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
Each conference attendee is responsible for their own travel arrangements.  American Airlines has three daily departures from Sioux City, 6:05 AM and 12:35 PM to Chicago and 1:26 PM to Dallas/Ft. Worth.  Make your reservation through your travel agent, or online at www.aa.com/


ACCOMMODATIONS
A block of rooms has been reserved at The Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel for our group at a single rate of $365 + tax.
